Aires Mateus's project turns four old rural houses into an essential refuge where nature literally enters the spaces: the living area's floor is replaced by sand from the dunes of the Alentejo, erasing the line between inside and out. More than a place to stay, it is a manifesto of that quiet elegance that has made Comporta an international reference for architects, designers and travellers in search of the essential.

With JNcQUOI Club, Comporta welcomes a new interpretation of contemporary luxury. Vincent Van Duysen reinterprets the vernacular architecture of the Atlantic coast through essential volumes, natural materials and rigorous proportions, never breaking the dialogue with the landscape. The villas set within the nature reserve and the Beach Club on Praia do Pego expand the destination's aesthetic vocabulary with an international, sophisticated and measured language. A project that proves innovation and identity can coexist in perfect balance.

More than a resort, Quinta da Comporta is a contemporary reinterpretation of the old Alentejo farming hamlet. Miguel Câncio Martins builds a place where architecture, landscape and wellness share the same measure, drawing on local building traditions and the life of the rice paddies. The spectacular pool suspended over the rice fields has become one of Comporta's signature images, but the real luxury is the atmosphere: an authentic calm, made of light, natural materials and a rhythm that seems to follow the seasons.

If Casas na Areia represents the origin of Comporta's aesthetic, Pa.te.os tells its most radical evolution. Aires Mateus signs four residences carved from exposed concrete, where the patio becomes the heart of the project and the landscape enters the architecture through light, voids and silence. Every space is stripped to the essential, without giving up the most sophisticated comfort. It is one of the most significant works of contemporary Portuguese architecture, and a place of pilgrimage for those who see in the project an experience before a place to live in.

Spatia interprets one of Comporta's founding principles: building less, to let the landscape breathe. Set within the Alentejo pine forest, the project combines contemporary lines, local craft and large open spaces in a balance that favours light, privacy and nature. The buildings seem to dissolve among the trees, while every detail reflects an idea of discreet, excess-free hospitality. An address that shows how design can be present without ever taking centre stage.
